Frequently asked questions

What is Oulie?

Oulie is a social reading tracker for keeping your books, progress and reading plans together. Build your shelves, discover your next read, set goals and share the experience with friends or a reading group.

Is Oulie free?

Oulie is free to use during beta. The app is still evolving, and feedback from readers helps shape what comes next. Pricing after beta has not been announced.

Can I read or listen to books inside Oulie?

Oulie helps you track and talk about the books you read or listen to. It does not supply full ebooks or audiobooks. Keep reading with your own copy, library loan, ebook reader or audiobook service, then log your progress in Oulie.

How do I track my reading?

Find a book, add it to your shelf and log your progress in pages, minutes or percent. You can keep track of finished books, set reading goals and look back at your stats. Reading activity also earns XP and achievements.

How can I read with friends?

Plan a shared read, arrange books on a shared calendar or join a reading group. You can follow progress together, share lists and recommendations, discuss books in chat, and nominate or vote on what your group should read next.

Can I use Oulie on my own?

Yes. Your shelves, reading logs, goals and discoveries are useful on their own. Joining groups, chatting and sharing your reading are optional.

How do Weekly Picks work?

Weekly Picks use AI to suggest books based on signals such as your reading history, ratings, favourite authors and genres, preferred language and feedback on earlier picks. Suggestions are checked against catalogue information, but AI can still make mistakes. Saving or dismissing a pick helps inform future recommendations.

Can I use Oulie on a phone, tablet or computer?

You can use Oulie in a web browser on your phone, tablet or computer. Sign in with the same account to access your saved shelves and reading progress across devices.

Who can see my reading activity?

Visibility depends on your privacy settings and where you share something. Review your profile visibility, public reading stats and chat preferences in the app. Shared lists, group activity and public reviews have their own audiences. The privacy policy explains what information Oulie collects and how it is used.

Who is Oulie for?

Oulie is intended for readers aged 16 and over. Parental controls and an experience for younger children are not currently available.

Where does the book information come from?

Book details and covers come from ISBNdb, a bibliographic database, alongside what readers add themselves. Some older records still carry information from catalogues Oulie used before; our Data sources & credits page names them. If a title, edition or cover looks wrong, please let us know.

How do I delete my account?

Open Profile and choose Delete profile to request deletion. Your access stops immediately, your profile is hidden and digest participation stops. Profile database deletion is scheduled after 30 days. See the privacy policy for retention details, or contact us if you need help.

Who’s behind Oulie?

Oulie is built and operated by Lars Harald J. Kristiansen in Norway.
