Cielo alto

Cieloalta is an imaginary city and bridge, several miles above the clouds, where people are divided into "reps" and "permanent". The "reps" are humans as they exist: they are born, they live, they grow old and die, and are aware of their finite nature and death. The "permanents" live forever as long as they do not travel beyond the confines imposed by each section of the city. For them, there is no illness, violence or senility. The protagonist of this story, Javier Dosaires, a "permanent", travels between the real and the imaginary geography of Cieloalta. Here he begins to ask himself questions on the nature of memory, the past and how to move beyond it, and how long can one hide from one's inner past.
