British Party Politics

The 80s saw important changes in the British party system as a whole and also within the individual parties. The increased volatility of voters, the fragmentation of the party system, the enhanced importance of the media and the advent of a range of new issues on the political agenda have all combined to change the way in which competition for power is conducted.
