Healing and Recovery from the Impacts of Gender-Based Violence: an Investigation of the Current Range of Supports Available to Victim-Survivors in the Hunter and Central Coast Regions of NSW
This research was conducted in 2024 and 2025 by the Gender Justice Hub team based in the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education (CEEHE) at the University of Newcastle. In 2024, we conducted in-depth qualitative interviews over Zoom with 14 participants and collected 29 quantitative survey responses. Participants were leaders and/or professionals working within the domestic, sexual and family violence (DFSV) sector. In 2025, we conducted two collaborative workshops to report the initial findings to the DFSV sector and to refine the insights and analysis. The research, and our approach in this Report, are part of an ongoing collaboration between CEEHE and the Hunter Domestic Violence Consortium, which includes a range of DFSV service-providers in the region.
