Colorado Scenic Byways Taking the Other Road

This two volume set includes the Colorado Scenic Byways book and the Road Atlas and Travel Guide. Colorado Scenic Byways celebrates the siren call of the open road and the promise of new vistas and opportunities just over the next hill, around the next bend, or beyond the far horizon. In particular, it celebrates Colorado's extraordinarily diverse system of scenic byways, 25 routes that follow less-traveled and more inspiring roads. This is a book for travelers who prefer winding roads to straight, who would rather explore a new route than get there fast, and whose curiosity leads them to stop and read a roadside sign or marvel at a waterfall, a wildflower, an abandoned barn, or a flock of sandhill cranes high overhead. It is for those who think they know Colorado, as well as those who are new to the state's enchantments. Volume One: Colorado Scenic Byways evokes the heart and spirit of each byway in spectacular photographs and insightful essays. Volume Two: Colorado Scenic Byways: Road Atlas and Travel Guide explores each route in more detail, including maps and altitude profiles, essential facts on length, road type, services, unique and fun sights and events along the way, and insider tips from the photographer and writer.
