The Friendship Next Door with Delmar

The Friendship Next Door with Delmar is a heartwarming children’s book inspired by a real-life friendship that has touched millions and has been featured in People Magazine, ABC News, and Good Morning America. For over 10 years, Julissa has been neighbors with Delmar, an 85-year-old full of wisdom, humor, and adventure. What began as a simple hello grew into a beautiful, unexpected bond filled with everyday moments, laughter, and love. As Delmar became part of the family, their story became a powerful reminder of how kindness and connection can change lives. Through fun and meaningful storytelling, this book celebrates intergenerational friendship, compassion, and the joy of caring for others. Young readers will love following along on these real-life adventures while learning that friendship can be found anywhere, sometimes right next door. This story was brought to life by a commissioned freelance illustrator, whose artwork helps capture the warmth, emotion, and joy of Delmar’s story on every page.
